Student Health Services | Boston Health Sciences and Grafton Campuses
Your health is an essential part of your success at Tufts University. Whether you need care for a short-term illness, support managing chronic conditions, or access to specialized resources, we’re here to help. Student Health Services provides medical care for eligible students enrolled in in-person programs on the Boston Health Sciences and Grafton campuses.
Students enrolled in fully remote or hybrid programs are not eligible for on-campus medical services.

Primary and Urgent Care
- Acute illnesses and injuries
- Animal bites and animal related injuries
- Medical clearances following illnesses and injuries
- Care following needle stick or blood borne pathogen exposure
Preventive and Routine Care
- Physical exams
- Vaccinations
- Support managing chronic health conditions
Sexual and Reproductive Health
- STI testing and treatment, including PEP and PrEP
- Sexual, reproductive, and transgender healthcare
- Sexual assault support and referrals
Testing and Clinical Services
- Phlebotomy
- Point of care testing for pregnancy, urinary symptoms, and respiratory and throat infections
Nutrition Services
- Support for eating disorders, chronic health conditions, food allergies, dietary restrictions, and other nutrition-related concerns
Services Not Provided
Student Health Services does not provide emergency department care, hospital-based treatment, advanced imaging, or most specialty services. When outside care is needed, your provider will discuss referral options with you.

How to Make an Appointment
Phone: Call your campus clinic during business hours. Same-day appointments are scheduled by phone based on clinical need and clinician availability.
In-Person: Visit your campus clinic during business hours for scheduling assistance.
24/7 Medical Support
Medical support is available after hours, on weekends, and on university holidays.

The medical provider on call offers clinical guidance, helps determine the appropriate level of care, and recommends next steps. This service does not provide routine appointments or prescription refills.

Hazardous Material or Laboratory Exposures
For hazardous material exposure in a research or laboratory setting, call the Exposure Response Call Center at 1-866-360-8100. This service is available 24 hours a day.

Below you will find answers to commonly asked questions about Student Health Services on the Boston Health Sciences and Grafton campuses.
Yes. Student Health Services can support many of your routine and urgent healthcare needs while you are a Tufts student and can also help coordinate care with outside providers when needed.
You may continue receiving care from your primary care provider while enrolled at Tufts. Student Health Services may also provide care for routine and urgent health needs while you are on campus. With your permission, our providers may coordinate care with your outside provider when appropriate.
Provider visits and university required vaccines, screenings, and titers are covered by the Student Health and Wellness (SHAW) Fee for eligible students.
Other services, including laboratory work, prescriptions, imaging, and outside referrals, may be billed to your health insurance or Bursar account.
Cancel or reschedule as soon as possible by calling your campus clinic during business hours.
Your provider will review your symptoms or health concerns, discuss your medical history, complete an evaluation, and develop a care plan with you.
Your care plan may include treatment recommendations, testing, medication, follow-up appointments, or a referral to an outside provider.
Yes. When clinically appropriate, our providers prescribe medications and send prescriptions electronically to your preferred pharmacy. You or your insurance plan are responsible for prescription costs.
Student Health Services generally does not collect specimens for laboratory orders placed by outside providers. Contact your campus clinic to discuss your needs and available options.
Yes. Your visits are confidential. University Health Services shares information only as permitted or required by law and University Health Services policies. Information about your care is not shared with faculty, deans, family members, or others without your permission, except in limited circumstances permitted or required by law.
Telehealth appointments are available only when you are physically located in Massachusetts or another state where your provider is licensed to practice. Contact your campus clinic to discuss available options if you are outside an approved state.
Current students may request records through the Student Health Portal. Former students should complete the Authorization to Release Medical Records form. Submission instructions are included on the form.
